A Hitty friend requested a knitted cat of the "Jenny Linsky" variety. I had never read any of the Esther Averill books. I ordered one by inter-library loan. It hasn't come yet.
A simple google Image showed me what she looked like....Jenny is famous for her yellow eyes yet oddly enough, I haven't seen any illustrations in the books where her eyes are anything but (outlined in) white. Go figure.
Here is the onesie, ready for the baby shower. The boy baby's last name is Shedd. He should be arriving in about 6-8 weeks....the dog is upcycled from shirts, with minky cloth for the ears and tail. I had fun making the tag, too. I love that the eyes are crocheted and securely sewn on.
I don't do card like I used to; but I couldn't resist this baby gift thank you card. I love working with foamies!
This dress was made for a different Hitty. This is Hitty Tina, carved for me by Tina Williams. I asked her to let me paint her. One of these days I'll get good at it. ha ha
I took the pic because I wanted to show the SculpeyIII buttons. I make them this way:
1. Roll out a thin roll of sculpey.
2. Break off even pieces, then roll each into a tiny ball. (We are talking reallllly small here.)
3. Flatten each ball to resemble a button (on top of aluminum foil).
4. Using the end of a small tapestry needle, make two holes in each button disk.
5. Bake for 5-7 minutes (using temp.recommendation on your clay package)
6. Take out of oven and off of the foil.
7. Using the needle, poke through the holes again.
8. Place back on foil and bake again for 5-7 minutes.
9. Turn oven off and you're done!
10. Sew these buttons onto a handmade button card so you can keep a stash of them. :)
Close up of buttons----which are about 3/16 of an inch.
